Knees Of Fury 32 Event Review
By Laurino Scriva.
Thanks to infinitemma.com staff writer Laurino Scriva, we have our first Knees Of Fury event play-by-play. Laurino was kind enough to step up and cover the Knees Of Fury 32 event for the website while I was otherwise tied up welcoming my first child in to the world. The play-by-play style of event coverage is where we are gradually heading, as the site and staff numbers here begin to expand along with the popularity of the Australian and New Zealand events we cover.
The 32nd edition of Knees Of Fury was headlined by a Paul Slowinski x Thor Hoopman re-match. The event threw up a handful of upsets and surprising results, with a good number of massive knockdowns for the Fox Sports camera crews in attendance. You'd all be well advised not to miss this show when it airs on Fox Sports in a month or so, but in the mean time Laurino Scriva's play-by-play of the fights can be found below.

On impact, Hanui drops to the canvas and never even looks like coming close to beating the count as he winces in pain. The referee calls the fight at about 1:25 seconds into the first round.

Fight 11 – Jye Demmrich Vs Jun Lee

Round 2 - Qucikly into the second Jye begins working an inside thigh counter to the Southpaw Lee’s rear high kick. Lee looks to be trying to just smash through Demmrich’s defence but he holds steady and continues to work the inside leg of Lee, who appears not to be fazed by it. They tie up and Jye appears to have the strength advantage whilst clinching. He also utilizes some good, clean scoring leg kicks. 10-9 Jye
Round 3 – Into the third Jye continues working an inside thigh counter to Lee’s high kicks. The pattern repeats itself over and over, although Jye may either have some discomfort in his arms/wrists, or a problem with his gloves. Lee then cracks Demmrich with a good straight left and then follows up with some strong leg kicks. Jye appears to be tiring as he gets hit with some big punches, and Lee targets his rear leg. 10-9 Lee
Round 4 - Much like rounds two and three, Jye continues to counter the high kicks Jun throws at him by blocking and throwing inside leg kicks of his own. Then, all of a sudden the round turns into a giant elbow festival. Jye attempts a variety of step up and spinning elbows. Jye appears to be gassing but Lee can’t seem to find a way to capitalize. Both men continue to sling elbows until the bell rings. 10-10
Round 5 - Jye comes out looking tired and may have injured his arm (or maybe a continued glove issue?), but continues to try and punch with it anyway. He again tries countering but lacks any real power behind his techniques and the round draws to a close as both men look spent. 10-10

Flip unleashes with a punch that begins to drop Myles, and then follows up with a crushing head kick that hits Myles flush and puts him to the canvas. Myles beats the eight count and as Flip tries to jump on him, Myles counters with a clean right that backs Flip up and stops his momentum briefly. Myles, at this point aware that he was in trouble, attempts a running jumping knee and a jumping downward elbow but Flip covers up. He then hits Myles with a big punch which requires another eight count. Myles then manages to hold on until the end of the round. 10/8 Flip

Kym looks rattled and Wes tries to pounce, swinging heavy punch combinations, one of which connects and floors Kym. After the eight count the referee attempts to gauge Kym’s condition, which results in another 10-15 second delay. On the restart Capper goes straight after Kym again and drops him with another hard punch combination. Johnson’s corner looks to throw in the towel but Kym pops up quickly and signals that he is alright, although clearly he is quite rattled. The referee then gives what seems like a thirty second count that sees Wes raising his hands in frustration. They restart it and Wes bombards Kym until he catches him flush and Kym collapses to the canvas and the fight is called. Both corners are angry that the fight was allowed to continue.
Result – KO – Wes Capper – Round 1
Fight 14 – Paul Slowinski Vs Thor Hoopman
Round 1 – In the main event of the night Paul came out working his trademark rear leg kick, and from that point on, you knew it was going to be a hard night for Thor. Paul steadily worked the powerful right leg as he stalked Thor around the ring. Thor landed a nice punch or elbow during an exchange and Paul’s left eye started to swell a little. Paul continued to advance and in the clinch he manhandled Thor. At one point he actually picked Thor up and threw him flat on his stomach. Once back to his feet, Thor found himself bailed up against the ropes and on the receiving end of some big punches that he did his best to cover up against. After a few powerful shots got through Thor was giving a standing eight count and looked a little unsteady on his feet. As soon as the fight was restarted Paul came charging in and again bailed Thor up in the corner. Slowinski threw elbows and mixed up his attacks, landing body rips and headshots, uppercuts and hooks, before the referee jumped in and waived the fight off.
Result – TKO – Paul Slowinski – Round 1
